Learning Support Assistant
What I love about my job:
I love the fact that every day is different, and I never quite know what it will be like. In recent weeks I have visited a falconry centre, built a wooden toolbox, refreshed my own education on multiplying fractions and the periodic table, and made masks out of clay… and I actually got paid to do this! I feel very blessed that I have a job that I love coming to each day.
Who or what inspires me:
I feel really inspired by the kids here, because they remind me that none of us are born with knowledge - we must first learn and practice until we understand or master something. Often they can become frustrated or disheartened when we are teaching them something new, but seeing them persevere and overcome challenges to learn and grow really inspires me to apply this in my own life.
Little known fact about me:
When I was a little boy I dreamed of being a pig farmer when I grew up. As I turned 30 I started to realise anything could be possible if I put my mind to it, and so I decided to learn how to keep pigs by reading books and asking pig farmers for work experience days with them. I eventually found some woodland to rent and started my own small pig farm, spending the next 6 years breeding and selling native rare breed pigs.
