We are delighted to announce that following our recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, we are not only fully compliant in all areas of school life but we have been recognised as a truly outstanding school with a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach that demonstrates a ‘significant strength’.
A four strong team of inspectors visited over 3 days using the new ISI inspection framework. There are no longer overall judgements or grades, however inspectors are able to pinpoint what they consider to be ‘significant strengths’ if they find evidence at the school of profound and genuine aspiration for pupils’ development.
It is a rare accolade and we are one of only a handful of schools which has been found to have one of these ‘significant’ strengths’.
The report states: The school’s comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach very successfully combines education and care and is based upon a deep understanding of attachment theory and pupils’ emotional needs. This is a significant strength. The school’s approach enables pupils to develop their confidence, self-esteem, self-awareness, self-control, motivation and socialisation particularly well. This focus on supporting pupils’ personal development provides a stepping stone to strong academic achievement. Pupils develop high aspirations and achieve a range of qualifications that prepare them for further education and beyond.”
Moreover, the report highlights our “deep culture of safeguarding that permeates all aspects of the school’s provision” and that “Pupil’s wellbeing is central to all aspects of school life.” “Staff support pupil’s with understanding and care throughout the day” and that our curriculum is “adapted effectively to meet pupils’ individual needs”
Needless to say, we are extremely pleased that the inspectors were able to recognise and fully understand what we do. A big thank you must go to all the pupils and members of staff who rose to the occasion and proudly showed off all the good work that goes on here at Beech Lodge. It is a testament to the dedication and excellence of our entire school community and is something we can all be very proud of.
