I came across this quote the other day when attending a conference on Teenage Mental Health organised by Adoption UK. Dr Matt Woolgar – Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the National Adoption & Fostering Service South London & Maudsley NHS Trust used it in his presentation and I thought it was a very fitting analogy for our children:
“Dandelions and Orchids”
- Dandelions do OK in most environments
- Orchids do badly in poor but also in good but not quite right environments
- Orchids will flourish in exactly right, tailored or personalised environments.
Our wonderful children are beautiful Orchids!
