Chagall Class experienced democracy first hand last week when they used pupil power to change a BBC Newsround article.
In a feature about the forthcoming national Emergency Alert test, they thought that the image used to support the article was badly chosen. It features a scared child, alone in bed and illuminated by their phone screen – a disturbing image for our class, who also noted that we should not be looking at our phones in bed!
With the help of their teacher, Ms Marshall, they composed an email and sent it to the BBC, who replied straightaway and replaced the image with a much more suitable picture.
Thanks Newsround!
We have been talking about British Values at school and are glad that the pupils could witness democracy in action.
